Discovering Reiki: A pathway back to wholeness

Reiki entered my life at a time when I didn’t have answers, only a profound need for support. And what began as a search for relief became a return to myself.
I was a new mama to young twins, navigating sleepless nights, the emotional intensity of early motherhood, and the constant pull of caring for two little humans who depended on me entirely. At the same time, my marriage was falling apart, and I found myself emotionally exhausted and unsure of who I was becoming.
On the outside, I was doing what needed to be done. On the inside, I felt overwhelmed, anxious, and deeply depleted. I loved my children fiercely, yet I had very little space to care for myself. It was during this tender and vulnerable time that I discovered Reiki.
At first, I didn’t know exactly what to expect, I simply knew I needed support. From my very first session, I felt a deep sense of calm wash over me. My nervous system softened. My body relaxed. And for the first time in months, I felt safe enough to breathe deeply and let go.
That experience became the beginning of a profound healing journey. Reiki didn’t “fix” my circumstances, but it gave me the inner steadiness and emotional resilience I needed to move through them. Over time, I began to feel more grounded, more present with my children, and more connected to myself. This deeply personal healing journey eventually inspired me to train as a Reiki practitioner, so I could support others through periods of stress, transition, and transformation with the same empathy and care I had received.
What Is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle, holistic healing practice that originated in Japan. The word Reiki loosely translates to “universal life energy.” This energy is believed to flow through all living things, supporting balance, vitality, and overall wellbeing.
During a session, the practitioner uses light touch or hands placed just above the body to support the flow of energy and creating a deeply restful experience. Reiki works on a physical, emotional, mental, and energetic level, helping the body activate its natural ability to restore balance.
Healing the Energy Body Takes Time
Just like physical healing, healing the energy body takes time. While many people notice immediate relaxation or relief after a single session, the most profound and lasting shifts are often experienced over time.
Reiki works by gently unwinding patterns of stress, emotional holding, and energetic imbalance that may have built up over months or years. For this reason, a series of 3–6 sessions is often recommended to allow the body and nervous system to fully respond, integrate, and rebalance. Each person’s journey is unique, and sessions are always tailored to support your individual wellbeing and life circumstances.
What Does Reiki Feel Like?
Every experience is different. Some people notice warmth, gentle tingling, or deep relaxation. Others experience emotional release, mental clarity, or a sense of lightness in the days following a session. Many clients describe feeling calmer, more grounded, and more connected to themselves.
