Getting to know... Scott Saxby
We’re pleased to introduce Scott, who’s helping our community find the perfect membership and deepen their Trinity experience. Fun facts? He plays the saxophone, would love to master ice hockey, and swears by salmon rice bowls. Read on for some more info about Scott, who might just be giving you a call soon.
What's your go-to comfort food?
I love cooking. When things get busy my go-to is a Salmon Rice Bowl. Brown rice, baby corn, bok choy, carrot, ginger, garlic, a splash of sesame oil, fish sauce and soy sauce - The rice cooker does the hard work, and it’s always quick, nourishing and satisfying.
If you could have dinner with any three people, living or dead, who would they be?
Marcus Aurelius. A great Roman emperor who led with humility and philosophy.
Jacob Collier. A modern musical genius and, from all accounts, a beautiful human being.
Rajneesh (Osho). Said to be born with the god of wisdom on his tongue, with a presence that left people calm, clear, and strong.
If you were a superhero, what would your superpower be?
Regeneration. Health means a lot to me, and I’ve put my body through plenty over the years. In a way I’ve found that superpower at Trinity through hot/cold therapy, LED and classes. with kinesiology next on the list to try.
What's one thing you've learned in the past year that you'll never forget?
This year has been a transformation in health and wellness. The biggest lesson: the answers are already within me. With meditation, self-regulation, routines like cold exposure, and support from others, I can keep finding them.
If you could instantly become an expert in something, what would it be?
Ice hockey. Older, experienced players seem to know exactly where to be and when which is often more powerful than speed or skill. If I could draw on that wisdom, it would lift both my game and my teamwork.
What's a fun fact about you that most people don't know?
I play the saxophone (with my last name being Saxby which is a hilarious coincidence) and have been playing since I was around 11 in various bands through school and university. I've recently picked up a Tenor saxophone and I can't wait to take it to a few of the jam nights around town.
